Position Summary:
The Equipment Sales & Rental Representativewill be responsible for all activities associated with sales and rentals of Mecalac equipment and RSP Vac Trucks in the Golden Horseshoe. The primary objective of this role is new business development in an outside sales capacity to expand Gear Equipment’s reach and customer base, while ensuring that acquired accounts and properly serviced and supported to drive on-going customer satisfaction.
In this role, the key objectives and duties will include:
- Planning and executing sales calls throughout the Golden Horseshoe region of Ontario to new potential clients within the construction, rail and other relevant sectors.
- Demonstrating organizational skills through effective territory planning and management to grow and increase market share within the region with an emphasis on the development of new customers to expand Gear Equipment’s client base.
- Preparing and regularly updating sales forecasts and reporting on active sales and sales pipeline activities, including identified potential sales targets, potential and active customer visits completed, demonstrations and other activities related to the sales process.
- Building and providing proposals and quotations to potential customers as required.
- Ensuring that correct information is passed to the administration support team for invoicing and billing purposes.
- Assisting with accounts receivable and collections directly with customers as required.
- Assisting in training and/or coordinating training of machine operators and demonstrations to clients of equipment capabilities.
Qualified candidates for this role will bring elements of the following experience, knowledge and skills:
- 5+ years of sales experience, including 2+ years of experience in the sale or rental of equipment in construction, rail, transportation or other relevant industry and/or sector. This could include previous positions in: Account Management, Rental Sales, Parts Sales, Service Manager, Customer Service Representative, Construction Manager, Tools Manager, Counter Sales Representative, Equipment Associate, or Manager Trainee/Manager in Training with a rental equipment company.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and grow a sales territory through identification of potential clients, new market opportunities and value proposition and sales metrics.
- Self-motivated, continuous learner with a desire to build relationships and uncover new opportunities.
- Valid class “G” driver’s license
- Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe
- Proficient in the English language (written and oral) with strong inter-personal and communication skills
- Perceptive listening skills.
- Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Adept at multi-tasking and prioritizing.
- Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment.
