Job description
OVERVIEW
The Executive Chef is responsible for creating and preparing food to be served at the resort restaurant and for onsite group event catering. This individual will ensure food quality, recruit and manage the kitchen team, and monitor equipment condition to keep the restaurant operating effectively.
JOB DUTIES
-Maintains a high quality of guest service and satisfaction with a fundamental commitment to constant improvement in all operations and menu offerings
-Oversees restaurant expenses and inventories
-Responsible for proper food preparation quantity and quality for daily operations as well as resort special events
-Develops new menu items and specials
-Coordinates team member selection and development and ensures team members comply with appropriate policies and procedures.
-Adheres to Suns Timekeeping Policy by reviewing, verifying accuracy, approving and submitting direct report(s) time recorded.
-Partners with Team Relations on team member counseling and recommendation of termination when appropriate.
-Conducts team member performance reviews and recommends compensation adjustments.
-Trains Cooks on menu details and specials
-Manages inventory control and reporting on a monthly basis
-Maintains and enforces all sanitation and health department requirements
-Meets with Resort General Manager on a regular basis to maintain budgetary and financial requirements, food and labor cost, and arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
-Facilitates open communication with management to ensure a successful working environment
-Maintains a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with guests and fellow team members
-Ensures and expedites proper product storage, quality, presentation and consistency
-Other duties as assigned
-Rectifies arising problems or complaints
REQUIREMENTS
-High School Education (some HS education required)
-Bachelor's Degree in in Culinary Arts or related field (Preferred)
-1 year experience in a culinary field
-Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities
-Excellent interpersonal skills
-Strong communication skills
-Strong customer service skills
-Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email and the internet
-Demonstrated leadership abilities
-Flexibility to work events during non-business hours
