Job description

Arima is developing the next generation marketing science platform designed to help media agencies, brand marketers and data scientists leverage data science to generate accurate consumer insights, plan and execute better marketing campaigns, and measure ROI and drive business growth. We are venture funded and operate in both Canada and the US.

We are seeking a Finance Manager with skills and passion suited to a dynamic start-up environment. The Finance Manager is responsible for maintaining and improving accounting systems, policies and procedures and accounting records, ensuring timely and accurate financial information and reporting. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the accounting records and processes including:

  • Benchmark analysis, cash flow (including debt repayment) and balance sheet analysis
  • Accounting systems (both QuickBooks and documents on internal server), ledgers and sub-ledgers
  • Monthly close and reporting
  • Receiving, processing and monitoring all A/R and A/P activities
  • Fixed asset management and tracking
  • Employee stock option plan
  • Responsible for the accounting records and processes
  • Generate payroll using QuickBooks for 10+ employees
  • Review financial statements

- Establish and maintain effective internal controls over accounting records and financial processes

- Maintain the annual operating budget and perform analysis of the sales forecast, work closely with VP Marketing & Sales

- Establish and maintain quarterly external reporting requirements, including;

  • Shareholder updates
  • Board meeting materials

- Manage and provide support with existing funding programs, both Government and Venture Capital sources, through

- Actively seek and apply to new funding opportunities

- Manage the audit process and ensure all audit requirements are fulfilled

- Provide support to the CEO, the Board, Senior Management Team on all Finance related matters

- Manage cash flow across all bank accounts to ensure appropriate short term liquidity. Work closely with the CEO in support of his objective to maximize medium and long term investment returns

- Manage and comply with all applicable reporting requirements and tax filings (HST, payroll tax, Employer Health Tax, Corporate tax)

- Develop, document and communicate (or refine and communicate, where applicable) business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

- Maintain and update the financial model with the monthly financial results

- Responsible for the purchasing process; receive orders, create purchase orders (working alongside QA/RA & Clinical Sales)

- Assess risk and ensure all appropriate means of insurance are in place and maintained, including; Product, General liability, Key Man, D&O

- Support the shipping process as needed and as appropriate

Required Skills and Experience:

- 3+ years in Controller/Assistant Controller role

- Masters/Bachelor degree strongly preferred in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field

- CPA designation

- Technical accounting strength including IFRS implementation

- Relevant industry experience preferred

- Excellent communication including influencing skills

- Demonstrated leadership ability

- Excellent time management, attention to detail and meeting committed deadlines

- Demonstrated strength in project management and organizational skills

- 3+ years’ experience in using and implementing ERPs

- 3+ years’ experience in business analysis, including performance to plan, and scenario modelling

- 3+ years’ experience in accounting systems/process design

- Experience in developing internal control processes for growing business

- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

- Experienced with QuickBooks software

Job Details:

Full time, remoted based with one day in office each month.
