Cranbrook is in the East Kootenay region of British Columbia where getting out and enjoying the outdoors is almost unavoidable. Top Hand Supplies is a small second-generation family-owned business that is focused on creating employment and making great pet food in the Kootenays for Western Canadian pet parents. We started in a home kitchen making food for our own dogs back in the late nineties, now our kitchen is just a little bit bigger, we still make food for our dogs and cats but also try to make a bit extra for other people because we feel it is that good. Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join our growing team. This role will be responsible for all aspects of financial management, human resources, and office management for the company.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Work closely with key stakeholders of the business to set and deliver on SMART goals that move the company forward while maintaining financial stability and profitability.
• (LMA) Lead, Manage, Accountability
• Manage all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, GL, Payroll, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
• Support and monitor month-end and year-end close process
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
• Manage and comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls, structure, and procedures
• Manage and Analyse fixed expenses and find cost-saving opportunities
• Develop and grow relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally
• Basic Human Resources Management
• Basic Office Management
• Basic IT Management

Working Conditions

• Office environment
• Prolonged periods of sitting and or standing
• There may be opportunities for hybrid remote for an employee located in the Kootenays
• 40 hours a week, flex time may be available for the right applicant

Qualifications & Skills

• 2-year minimum relevant Financial Controller experience
• Post-secondary degree in a relevant field
• Must be able to manage the full scope of the financial department
• Extensive knowledge of BC Provincial and Federal/CRA tax regulations & policies
• Strong IT/computer skills
• Experience in human resources management

Salary & Benefits

• $85,000 - $105,000 yr (based on a 40 hr work week)
• Extended benefits are available after 3 months of employment
