Are you an experienced power engineer? We're seeking a power engineer/process operator who has a passion for plant operations to join our Upgrading operations U1 Primary team in Fort McMurray.
This role will provide an opportunity to work side-by-side with some of the most talented operators in the energy industry, learn our operating units, and progress in increasing levels of responsibility.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Experience in plant operations such as heavy oil processing, sour gas processing, water treatment/power plants or refinery operations
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to make timely decisions associated with process upsets
  • 4th Class Power Engineering certification (or higher); ABSA certified. Preference for a 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Key Accountabilities:
  • Follow all operating processes and procedures during operations to ensure the safety of our people, equipment, and the environment
  • Prepare and complete daily area logs and communicate significant changes and findings
  • Provide direction and supervision to the maintenance and contract personnel
  • Ensure timely action and process adjustments during plant upsets that are consistent with operational objectives and target outputs
  • Prepare equipment and systems for maintenance and commissioning
Location & other key details
  • You will work out of our Base Plant site in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • The shift schedule is a 6 days on / 6 days off rotation (3 days on, 3 nights on, 6 days off; 12-hour shifts)
  • This position is safety sensitive
  • You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
