The Opportunity
The Food Service Worker serves quality and nutritious meals to our residents ensuring that each resident is provided their individual nutritional requirements as outlined by the Registered Dietician. The Food Service Worker provides exceptional customer service to our residents and creates a pleasurable dining experience. This position must ensure compliance with the dietary services section of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Facilities Program.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Create a pleasurable dining experience by preparing the dining room for meals.
- Provide excellent customer service while serving meals to our residents.
- Receive input from residents regarding menu preferences and input and make recommendations to the dietary department.
- Consult Kardex daily to ensure compliance with the regulations of the MOHLTC providing residents’ diet, special needs and food/beverage preferences.
- Performs dish ware-washing duties.
- Maintains a clean and sanitized work area.
- Prepares nourishment cart.
The Ideal Candidate
- Possesses a Food Service Worker Certificate or current enrollment in the program with completion within 2 years.
- Students in the Applied Human Nutrition Program.
- Safe Food Handling Certificate and commitment to maintain/renew based on Public Health’s requirements.
- Vulnerable Sector Search Criminal Record Check.
- Able to work independently and part of a team.
- Must be able to work, days, evenings, and weekends as required.
- Must maintain an up to date immunization record including COVID-19 vaccination series, annual influenza and TB screening

- Full Time, 75 hours bi-weekly including alternate weekends, 8 hour shifts including 10am-6pm, 10:45am-6:45pm and 11am-7pm.
