Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the Food Stability Program, ensuring meals meet nutritional standards and are prepared safely.
- Coordinate meal preparation, including baking, cooking, and inventory management, while minimizing waste.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source quality ingredients and manage deliveries effectively.
- Lead cooking classes for community members, providing education on healthy eating habits and food preparation.
- Assist with opening procedures for the coffee shop, ensuring equipment is turned on and the space is prepared for service.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen and dining area.
- Support dishwashing and other kitchen tasks as needed.
- Flexibility required to work additional hours during events and assist with coffee shop operations.
- Comply with health and safety regulations
- Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
- Maintain the cleanliness of The Well, including floors, windows, kitchen, bathroom, changing garbage, and the building in general
- Wash and sanitize dishes and equipment as needed and at the end of the day.
- Complete closing cleanup checklist: Sweep, mop, wipe surfaces, sanitize equipment, clean bathrooms, etc.
- Assist with Youth Center as needed
- Oversee hospitality aspects of events: prepare shopping lists, prepare food, set up food, serve food, etc.
- Follow and manage a budget and use applicable protocols. Record data regarding the FSP.
- Previous experience in food service or kitchen management, preferably with a focus on youth work.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to manage and order inventory in a way that is cost-efficient and reduces waste.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Willingness to obtain a food safety handler's certification before starting. You can obtain certification through food safety training.
