Job description

 

Can you envision yourself providing administrative services, advice, and support to line managers, unions, employee groups, employees, and the HR community as they pertain to activities such as pension and benefits administration, resourcing (internal and external), terminations, salary administration, Human Resources Management System (HRMS) administration, and employee relations? What will you be doing! 

  • Providing day-to-day administrative support.
  • Demonstrating a working knowledge of pension and benefit processes and practices; overall knowledge of staffing, salary administration, performance reviews, and employee relations.
  • Maintaining human resources records for employees by recording the hiring, transfer, termination, change in job classifications, and merit increase dates, as well as tracking vacation, sick, and personal time.
  • Updating benefits provider with new enrollments, terminations, and employee status changes.
  • Tracking documentation from various departments to ensure HR files are up to date.
  • Preparing various employment letters, including changes of position/compensation, acting/temporary assignment letters, rehire of retiree offer letters, and pension letters for retiring employees.
  • Providing excellent customer service.
  • Providing guidance to employees during their life cycle (new hires, benefits and pension questions, internal movements, retirement).
  • Providing advice and information to managers and HR personnel on pension, benefit, and leave administration.
  • Being able to quote and/or direct employees to collective agreement language pertaining to questions about various policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining confidentiality related to corporate, personal, and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrating success in building strong credibility and working relationships with client groups at all levels of the organization.
  • Counseling retiring/terminating employees.
  • Providing support and backup to HR/Talent Solutions Advisor and HR Consultant.
  • Reporting and Data Collection.
  • Tracking HR metrics/data and compiling reports.
  • Designing and developing data and reporting to meet client/HR requirements, including generating and maintaining statistics (monthly/quarterly/annual) on a variety of HR metrics and analyzing the results for reporting and providing insights and recommendations.
  • Performing other duties as required.

What we are looking for: 

  • Degree or diploma from a college or university program in the field of Human Resources or Business.
  • CHRP designation  (or working towards) would be an asset.
  • 2 - 4 years of related Human Resources work experience or the equivalent in education and experience.
  • Experience working with Oracle or other HRMS required.
  • Experience in a fast pace changing environment managing conflicting priorities.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentially.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
  • Functional knowledge and proficiency with systems-based tools such as Microsoft Office.
  • Proactive, independent thinking, self-starter, demonstrating strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Initiative to resolve problems and expedites resources, work plans or other appropriate action.
  • Must be highly organized, possess strong analytical abilities and interpersonal skill.
  • Must be aware of and embrace the ever-changing work environment and proactively make recommendations to change.  Must be a “change agent” who is willing to help others to accept and understand change, share their skills and proactively learn new skills.
  • Must have the ability to comprehend and relay information concisely and accurately, and to work with minimum supervision in an environment requiring initiative and the ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Must be able to see the 'big picture', by having a solid understanding of how all the pieces fit together as changes apply not only to individual employees but to other systems as well.
  • Must have the ability to work, plan and prepare own work schedule; develop, measure and assess goals; manage time, all under demanding and diverse situations and stressful deadlines.
  • Good oral and written communication skills along with the ability to positively motivate, mentor, build and maintain good teams with a collaborative attitude.
  • Provide human resources policy information and interpretations to collective agreements and/or legislation to internal customers on human resources matters including but not limited to relocation, compensation, recruitment and terms and conditions of employment.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment standards and other regulatory legislation.
  • Strong Knowledge of HRMS transactions and administration and how they impact Payroll.
  • Ability to develop a working level knowledge of CNL's Human Resources policies and procedures, collective agreements and legislation (i.e. Employee Equity, Pay Equity, Official Languages, etc.).
  • Ability to consult, support and liaise effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.


Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom.

Location:  

CNL works with employees across Canada to enable a remote workforce where possible.  Our Work from Home employees are provided with the equipment required to be successful: laptop, monitor, external etc. Of course, we always love a visit to site when possible!
