Trans-Northern Pipelines Inc. (TNPI) operates regulated pipelines to safely transport the refined petroleum products (gasoline, diesel, aviation, and heating fuel) used by Canadian businesses and consumers every day. These pipelines connect refineries in Edmonton to Calgary, including the Calgary International Airport; and refineries in Nanticoke, Ont., and Montreal to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), with lateral pipelines to Ottawa as well as to Pearson International Airport and Pierre-Elliot Trudeau International Airport. POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Team Lead HR Operations, you will serve as a trusted advisor to internal clients, collaborating closely with leaders and teams to align HR strategies with organizational goals. As a key member of the HR team, you will be accountable for delivering comprehensive HR solutions, addressing employee and labour relations matters, talent management, and developing, and driving HR initiatives to enhance the employee experience. In addition, you will participate or lead in the development or improvement of people management processes, initiatives, compliance programs and/or related HR technology projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide coaching, guidance, and advice to leaders on the employee lifecycle while supporting them in decision-making related to people management in both non-union and unionized environments.
  • Lead or support the development, implementation and communication of HR processes, initiatives, and policies.
  • Develop strategies to engage and motivate employees, implementing programs that enhance morale and promote a sense of belonging and loyalty.
  • Support leaders with all aspects of Performance Management including coaching on employee relations, performance, practice, or policy issues.
  • Facilitate the Performance Management cycle with leaders including communications, ongoing coaching as well as overall consolidation of worksheets and ratings.
  • Plan and facilitate year-end performance peer review meetings with respective leadership teams to review overall employee performance.
  • Support leaders with the annual compensation process; providing guidance, answering questions and/or liaising with corporate specialists for further direction.
  • Facilitate the Annual Workforce Planning process to identify resource requirements for both short and long term, including identifying gaps and strategizing succession planning.
  • Report and analyze organizational demographics and bench strength to better inform our resourcing and succession needs.
  • Participate in the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements with the labour union, ensuring that terms and conditions are fair, compliant, and aligned with the organization's goals.
  • Address employee grievances, investigate concerns, and facilitate resolution of conflicts between management and labour.
  • Manage and/or support the administration of Workers Compensation, Disability Management (short- and long-term disability) including accommodation requirements.
  • Participate or lead the development or improvement of people management processes, compliance programs and/or related HR technology projects through strong project management skills including research and development and effective communication and implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with governing legislation, regulations, internal policies, and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience within non-union and unionized environments.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Management, or another related discipline
  • Exceptional knowledge of provincial and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Proficient influencer with excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Engage comfortably in challenging conversations, providing, and receiving feedback to empower team members beyond their full potential.
  • Strong planning, coordination, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of driving HR process improvements and projects from inception to execution.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with diplomacy and integrity.

Preference for:

  • Completion of CHRL designation is considered an asset.
