North Peace Tribal Council (NPTC) is seeking a highly motivated individual to work as a full-time Human Resource Coordinator. Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and carrying out effective human resource strategies to ensure NPTC fulfills program mandates and meets operational objectives. The Human Resource Coordinator will perform a range of duties to support the CEO and Managers in developing and maintaining a positive corporate culture for the 50+ staff and hire and retain the best candidates for the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain and carry out a human resource strategic plan to stay current with recruitment and retention strategies, and develop talent strategies to support training and development to develop staff capacity.
- Coordinate full-cycle recruitment process, including updating job descriptions, identifying, attracting, screening, interviewing, selecting, reference checks, hiring and onboarding employees.
- Maintains HRIS (Human Resources Information System), employee files, records, employee timesheets and statistical information.
- Liaises with department leads to present and interpret statistical information to enhance HR, health and safety, and quality programs and initiatives.
- Manage salary structure, position documentation, and an evaluation system.
- Provides support to ensure adequate compensation and benefits administration.
- Ensuring labor codes and standards are adhered to.
Qualifications & Abilities:
- A degree or diploma in Business, Human Resources, Labour Relations, or another related field is required. Minimum two years of Human Resources experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources management is an asset.
- Certified Human Resources Leader designation or a willingness to obtain is required.
- Certification as a Certified Payroll Professional is considered an asset.
- Experience with HR statistics and software is considered an asset.
- Experience working with financial statements/information/reports/statistics.
- Experience working with Indigenous organizations and communities is a significant asset.
- Strong knowledge of current employment law matters.
- Must be computer literate with specific experience in Microsoft Office software. Must have excellent written, oral, electronic and presentation communication skills.
Additional Requirements:
Provide a clear Vulnerable Sector and Child Intervention checks.
Must have a valid Driver’s License access to reliable transportation
Knowledge of the languages and cultures of the NPTC member First Nations will be a definite asset.
