Overview:


Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Fox Creek office is recruiting for a Lab Tech to join the team. This position reports to the Fox Creek Foreman in the Conventional Business Unit part of Pembina’s Northern Lights District. The position has an 8 and 6 rotation schedule.


Pembina's conventional pipeline assets comprise a strategically located network of pipelines and related infrastructure including various hubs and terminals. This network transports crude oil, condensate and NGL across much of Alberta and parts of British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and North Dakota.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”. To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit pembina.com/safety
  • Satisfy pipeline monitoring requirements by conducting necessary lab analyses;
  • Perform daily validations and periodic calibrations on lab instruments;
  • Conduct routine maintenance on lab instruments;
  • Compare field lab test results with online analyzer results and make recommendations for updates as necessary;
  • Troubleshoot issues with lab instruments;
  • Support other field labs with calibration and maintenance activities, travel may be required;
  • Provide training and task observations for other field lab personnel;
  • Maintain lab supply inventory;
  • Collect samples as necessary for field lab testing;
  • Participate in Field Lab Communities of Practice and Round Robin testing;
  • Assist with the development and review of instrument procedures and supporting documents;
  • Monitor and optimize sampling and testing schedules;
  • Participate in the development of lab activity tracking KPIs;
  • Stay updated on industry developments related to analyzers and changes in lab methods; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum requirement of a Grade 12 education;
  • Good computer skills;
  • Oilfield experience in product sampling considered an asset;
  • Experience with lab instruments such as vapor pressure, sulfur, density, viscosity and S&W considered an asset;
  • Possess the mechanical skills needed to maintain lab equipment;
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective communication abilities;
  • Ability to work independently while completing assignments in a safe, efficient manner with an environmentally conscious approach, in accordance with generally accepted company and industry safety practices;
  • Ability to work as a team, fostering cooperation and contributing to a positive work environment;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete work in a timely manner, both on a daily and monthly basis;
  • Provide exceptional customer service to our producers;
  • A motivated self-starter who is willing to go above and beyond when assistance is needed; and
  • Ability to travel within Alberta periodically with a valid driver’s license.


This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.


The successful candidate will ideally reside within the Fox Creek region.
