Company Overview: Contact Chemicals Inc. provides chemical solutions throughout the Alberta oilfield, we specialize in phase separation, flow assurance, paraffin, corrosion and other production related issues that our clients face. Contact Chemicals has developed its own unique product line and continues to adapt the product line to meet our customers requirement based on in-house testing. Currently we are expanding and are looking for an individual that can help and elevate our technical support group.

Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lab/Field Technician for our Main Laboratory in Wetaskiwin, AB, with field areas requiring support across Alberta. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the oilfield, with experience in facility operations, chemical handling, and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform field and lab analysis as required; expected to be near 50/50 field/lab.
  • Tasks in the field may require out of town stay for short periods of time.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of water and oil samples using ICPs, autoclaves, paraffin testing, H2S analysis, QCM, etc.
  • Keep detailed records of experiments, tests, and maintenance activities, maintaining accurate documentation for future reference.
  • Assisting field personnel with troubleshooting non-routine situations/samples.
  • Attending meetings with clients and suppliers
  • Writing and presenting RFP’s, reports, and case studies to clients.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of Chemical Technologist, Chemical Engineer or Bachelor of Science in a related field.
  • Flexible and adaptable schedule, based on the requirements of our customers.
  • Basic experience running lab equipment and testing.
  • Expertise in developing oilfield chemicals to improve process efficiency is a strong asset.
  • Exceptional teamwork and communication; capable of collaborating with diverse teams.
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and prioritize tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  • Commitment to safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within the team.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driver abstract are required.
  • H2S Alive, First Aid would be considered assets.
  • All training will be provided for the right candidate.
