Located in the hamlet of Douro, The Douro-Dummer Public Library is the single public library service point for a close-knit community of just over 7, 500 residents, 14 km north east of Peterborough, Ontario.

Douro-Dummer Public Library is looking for a self-starting team-player who is able to work independently. The individual must have excellent communication skills and strong technology skills. Customer service and program delivery skills are essential. Preference given to individuals with library training or equivalent experience. Reliable transportation is required. Part time – 15 hours per week (flexible-day, evening, weekend).

Position: Library Assistant

Salary: Between $23.92 - $26.30 per hour

Status: Permanent/ Part-time - 15 hours per week, some evening and weekend work

Start Date: As soon as possible

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Library CEO, the Library Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service to library patrons through a variety of duties including circulation, readers’ advisory, interlibrary loans, programming, outreach, and other tasks as required.

Qualifications:

• Must possess one year related experience in library or similar public services; Library Technician diploma is an asset.
• Must possess a Class “G” driver’s license
• Good organization and communication skills
• Proven ability to deal with the public
• Proven ability to use computers, Microsoft Word and Excel, emails; knowledge of an Integrated Library System is an asset
• Knowledge of Provincial and Municipal legislation pertaining to libraries.
• Able to work flexible hours, including 1 evening per week (Wednesdays) and/or Saturdays
• Successful candidate will be required to produce a current Vulnerable Sector Check
