Property and Public Works Maintenance Worker

Ts’uubaa-asatx, located in Lake Cowichan, BC, requires the services of a Maintenance Worker. This is a full-time permanent position (28 hours per week). Schedule will be Monday to Thursday 9am-4pm or unless otherwise directed.

The Position will be reporting to the Operations Manager. This is primarily an outdoor, field position.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Monitoring and maintaining sewer and water systems, lift stations, and fire hydrants;

· Maintaining all Nation roads, paths, sidewalks, playgrounds and easements;

· Maintaining Waterfront Beach and Marina area; general maintenance, mowing, pruning, watering

· Landscaping of all Ts’uubaa-asatx common areas; mowing, pruning, and watering;

· Oversight of general housing repair and maintenance to Ts’uubaa-asatx housing units;

· General exterior beautification tasks;

· Upkeep on all mechanical equipment such as vehicles, machinery, lawnmowers, snow plows, etc.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

· Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent experience.

· A Small Water Systems certificate is an asset.

· Must be able to work in a team environment, have excellent time management skills and work independently with minimum supervision.

· Knowledge of using and maintaining small landscaping equipment and lawnmowers.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Must successfully pass a pre-employment RCMP Criminal Record Check.

· Must have valid BC Driver’s License or is currently getting one.
