The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading and supervising the maintenance team, ensuring the efficient operation of daily, short-term, and long-term maintenance activities. This role encompasses oversight of routine maintenance, campus enhancements, and resolution of day-to-day operational challenges. The Maintenance Manager must possess comprehensive knowledge of building systems and components, demonstrating a meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality maintenance services.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruitment and Development: Lead the hiring, training, and staffing efforts of the maintenance department, fostering a skilled and cohesive team. Provide timely and constructive feedback to staff and conduct annual performance reviews.
- Seasonal Staff Management: Collaborate with the Human Resources Manager to identify and hire seasonal crew members to meet site needs during peak periods, ensuring optimal support for operational requirements.
- Maintenance Planning and Oversight: Develop and implement comprehensive preventive and regular maintenance procedures for buildings, equipment, and grounds. Ensure compliance with safety, security, and fire regulations while making informed recommendations for major repairs and purchases to management.
- Safety Leadership: Assume responsibility for the overall safety of the maintenance department, actively participating in Cedars Occupational Health and Safety Committee initiatives. Establish and uphold safe operating protocols to mitigate risks effectively.
- Emergency Response Readiness: Support staffing requirements during staff shortages and remain available for on-call duties related to emergency and inclement weather response, demonstrating readiness for proactive intervention.
- Facility Maintenance Coordination: Manage proactive facility maintenance tasks tailored to seasonal needs, such as gutter cleaning, carpet maintenance, and tree trimming, ensuring a well-maintained environment.
- Grounds Maintenance Planning: Develop and communicate a visible schedule for weekly, monthly, and seasonal grounds maintenance activities, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and timely completion of tasks.
- General Maintenance and Repairs: Perform a variety of basic maintenance and repair tasks, including carpentry, painting, mechanical, and plumbing work. Address furniture repairs, shelving construction, appliance servicing, painting, drywall repair, and equipment assembly as required.
- Waste Management and Cleanup: Oversee the collection, disposal, and safe handling of garbage, recyclable materials, and hazardous waste. Maintain cleanliness in external areas, including entranceways, sidewalks, and parking lots, using appropriate equipment and methods.
- Landscaping and Gardening: Execute gardening and lawn maintenance duties, such as mowing, weeding, pruning, and watering, to uphold the aesthetic appeal and functionality of outdoor spaces.
- Record Keeping: Complete and maintain accurate records, including maintenance logs and incident reports, to track activities and ensure accountability.
- Equipment Handling: Transport equipment, furniture, and supplies manually or using aids such as dollies and carts. Operate motor vehicles for the pickup and relocation of goods and supplies as needed.
- Professional Development: Attend staff training sessions and meetings as required, staying informed of industry best practices and organizational updates.
- Ad Hoc Responsibilities: Fulfill additional duties as assigned by leadership or management teams, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to organizational objectives.

Salary: $28.00-$36.00 per hour
