ʔakisq̓nuk First Nation (AFN) Enterprises LP is looking for a Campground Store and Maintenance Managerto join our team for a 7 month term position. Reporting to the General Manager, this position goes beyond traditional campground management, as it entails overseeing the operations of our camp store, as well as hiring and managing maintenance and store staff.
ʔakisq̓nuk First Nation (″ʔAFN″) is a member Community of the Ktunaxa Nation. ʔAFN exists for the Community. Externally, we are here to serve the Community, and internally, we are our own Community, comprised of different departments unified by our Vision, Mission, and Values. As a team, through our own roles and departments, the ʔAFN Organization works together to achieve our strategic plan “Our Thinking” and continue to progress and move our community forward.
Note: This position is full-time, 35 hours per week, for 7 months.
The primary responsibilities include:
· Camp Store Management:
o Stocking and inventory management of the camp store.
o Ensuring a welcoming and organized environment for campers.
o Managing sales transactions and providing excellent customer service.
o Implementing strategies to maximize store revenue and profitability.
· Staffing and Scheduling:
o Hiring, training, and supervising both Store and Maintenance staff.
o Creating and maintaining schedules for Store and Maintenance crew.
o Ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet operational needs.
· Maintenance Management:
o Overseeing the upkeep and cleanliness of campground facilities.
o Scheduling and coordinating maintenance tasks to ensure the campground remains in top condition.
o Addressing any maintenance issues promptly and efficiently.
· Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
· Previous experience in retail management, preferably in a campground or outdoor recreation setting.
· Strong leadership and team management skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
· Proficiency in inventory management and basic accounting principles.
· Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and work in a fast-paced environment.
· Knowledge of campground operations and outdoor recreation is a plus.
· Experience working with First Nations / Indigenous communities.
· Knowledge of language, history and culture of the Ktunaxa Nation is an asset.
· NOTE: A criminal check and vulnerable sector search will be conducted on the successful applicant
