Want the unique experience of accelerating growth of an evolving, dynamic, as well as increasingly visible and impactful part of RONA inc.? We are looking for an exceptional individual who will be key in driving the long-term revenue and profit growth of RONA’s online businesses.
The Manager, Digital Merchandising for Online Building Materials, pro and service experience, will be responsible for managing all aspects of assigned product categories, including internal and external factors that may impact the business. They will develop, motivate, and coach merchants and specialists in negotiation and skills that will ensure the growth of assigned categories. They will also build product categories that exceed customer expectations and achieve online sales goals.
The incumbent will manage the assigned product assortments, according to the direction and objectives set forth by the Sr Director, Digital Merchandising & Analytics, and the Retail Merchandising team, including leading a team of direct reports (making hiring decisions including hiring, performance management, and coaching).

Your role
- Assume responsibility for reporting online sales results, margins, and average basket for assigned product categories
- Develop and implement the online merchandising strategy (product families, sub-categories, upselling, cross-selling, complementary items, and promotional events) to ensure maximum sales and profitability for their online categories
- In collaboration with other departments in the organization, ensure that the online product assortment as well as the services (installation, protection plans and others) are integrated in the digital strategy,
- Develop a digital strategy for our professional clientele (contractors, construction specialists, etc.), optimizing the customer journey through quantitative and qualitative data.
- Translate strategy into actionable tactics and drive execution by the other teams
- Understand the needs of pro customers to select and optimize product assortment based on sales and consumer data to improve online satisfaction
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that the website and systems in place meet the business needs of online marketing
- Manage a team of merchants and specialists, ensuring individual performance management through coaching
- Maintain strong, effective relationships with vendors to drive innovation and product development
The qualifications we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce or similar diploma
- At least 5 to 7 years of experience in e-commerce
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a Digital Merchandising role
- Understanding of construction industry
- Experience leading and growing a team
- Cross-functional experience and ability to lead directly and through influence
- Strong sales and data analysis skills
- Demonstrated experience in retail buying at a large or big-box retailer (preferred)
- Experience in commercialisation of services (an asset)
- Experience in endless aisle management for e-commerce (an asset)
- Excellent communication skills
- Drive, self-starter attitude, problem-solving skills, and ability to perform in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Ability to quickly bring clarity and define path forward in complex situations
