```Job Summary```
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Administrative Assistant to join our team. You will join one other full time medical secretary/receptionist and the staff also includes two Family Physicians, a Mental Health Counsellor, a Diabetes educator and medical students/Residents. As a Medical Administrative Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office.
```Responsibilities```
- Greet and interact with patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
- Answer phone calls, respond to and direct enquiries appropriately.
- Schedule and manage patient appointments.
- Update and maintain patient records using our Intrahealth electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers as needed.
- Assist with maintaining inventory of office supplies and ordering as necessary.
- Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, typing and scanning documents.
- Record basic patient information (eg: weight, BP) and occasionally assist physicians with examinations.
```Qualifications```
- High school diploma required, recognized Medical Office Assistant Diploma or equivalent experience
- Previous experience working in a medical office or similar administrative role.
- Proficient in using office software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems, preferably Intrahealth.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work independently and as a member of the team.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and people skills. Comfortable dealing with the public and ability to manage sometimes demanding clients. Qualities required include empathy, patience, diplomacy, good judgement and common sense. - Commitment to the need for strict patient confidentiality at all times.
