Manufacturing unique heat resistant alloys and high nickel/chrome alloys primarily for the petrochemical industries, Kubota leads the industry in quality and advanced technology.
Summary:
Responsible for the identification, development and/or application of appropriate metallurgical technology, processes and material for Kubota Materials Canada Corporation.
Major Responsibilities (but not limited to)
· Support customers, and other departments on issues of a metallurgical nature, including failure analyses, quality investigations and process improvement proposals
· Perform experimental Research and investigations related to new technology, production issues and customer product failures
· Identify the need for process revisions or technology improvements
· Perform metallurgical analyses in support of forensic investigations and research projects
· Ensure that project goals are articulated, action plans developed, projects are conducted/evaluated/implemented, as approved
· Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams during project work
· Publish results of innovation in industry forums and journals
· Prepare supporting documentation for Scientific Research and Education Development (SR & ED) tax credits
· Ensure alignment with the overall Research & Development departmental goals and objectives
· Support Kubota Global Identity, with the Brand and Spirit statements of Kubota Materials Canada Corporation
· Other related duties, as required
Education, Experience and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree or a Diploma in Engineering or Metallurgy or Material Science
· Professional Engineers of Ontario designation (maintain current standing) an asset
· Minimum 3 years experience in industrial research & development considered an asset
· Proven understanding of metallurgical concepts, processes and analytical techniques
· Demonstrated knowledge of material properties of steel, specifically stainless steels and related alloys
· Demonstrated knowledge of metals, failure analysis, metal production and fabrication
· Strong analytical skills
· Demonstrated working knowledge of principles of lean methodology for process improvement
· Ability to meet tight deadlines with multiple tasks and shifting priorities
· Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
