Position Summary
Cambrian College’s Espanola and Manitoulin Campuses require a Training Consultant on a full-time basis.
Note: Internal candidates, as defined by the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement, will be given first consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, promote, administer, and evaluate numerous training programs and special projects for the Espanola and Manitoulin campuses.
- Oversee program areas such as part-time credit, general interest, apprenticeship, postsecondary, contract training, and special projects.
- In the case of contracts or special projects, the incumbent will be responsible for writing proposals, developing training programs around needs of customers and/or funders, approaching and liaising with appropriate personnel, and collecting and compiling all necessary documentation for reporting.
- In the delivery of programs, the incumbent will identify community need, locate suitable training facilities, and negotiate rental agreements. They will also supervise registration and make decisions based on registration numbers as to which courses will move forward and which will be cancelled.
- Liaise with employers, funders, government agencies, and a variety of community, social, and educational agencies.
- Participate on committees where community planning needs and issues regarding training are being addressed.
- Facilitate presentations to community groups and agencies, as required.
- Actively recruit, direct, motivate, and evaluate instructors and work with Human Resources to determine appropriate salaries. Collect and compile all necessary documentation for payment of instructors. Advise Chair on matters of hiring, professional development, and discipline.
- Develop marketing strategies for promotion of all satellite campus programming, including various types of advertising copy for use on social media and publication in local newspapers.
Qualifications
- Three-year postsecondary diploma or degree, preferably in the area of Business. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application.)
- Five years of experience in program administration and the identification, development, and marketing of educational programs and courses, as well as in developing and submitting proposals and contracts.
- Excellent research, analytical skills, tact, and judgment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service.
- Collaborative professional who promotes teamwork and works cohesively within a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) as well as experience in posting to social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
- This role requires travel.
