JOB TITLE: Procurement Specialist
JOB TYPE: Full-time, Permanent
SALARY: $70,000 /annum
BENEFITS: Medical Benefits Plan (after 3 months), 6% Vacation Pay
We are looking for an individual that has experience in the manufacturing sector (concrete or steel/rebar an asset). You should be proficient in working independently, and proactively, in a team environment. Collaborate with Project Management, Production Planning and Production in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will oversee the procurement process, ensure that materials meet design requirements, specifications, budget, and procedures. This requires accuracy, attention to detail, timely decision making and proactive problem solving.
JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
- Source, negotiate, and procure materials, supplies, and equipment supporting production schedules and manufacturing.
- Negotiate favorable terms, long-term pricing agreements, and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Prepare and maintain purchasing files, reports, and contracts.
- Review supplier performance and undertake research on new suppliers.
- Develop a good understanding of project requirements and work closely with the team for system and process enhancements.
- Work together with project engineering/management, production planning & plant production.
- Manage problems and schedule changes. Ensure changes are reflected and communicated.
- Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations.
- Support inventory and associated functions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects.
- Ensure delivered items are verified, offloaded, and distributed accordingly.
- Other duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- CPP Program Accreditation (Certified Professional Purchaser)
- Bachelor’s degree in business/supply chain and/or 3+ years of experience in procurement and sourcing in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to accuracy and detail.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Effective communication (verbal and written) and negotiation skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to optimize processes and make data-driven decisions.
- Ability to read drawings and hardware lists.
- Fair understanding of organizing and processing international cargo/shipments.
- Leadership skills and project management experience are an asset.
- Freight/Logistics experience an asset.
- Professional purchasing credentials are considered an asset.
