Procurement Specialist

The Opportunity:

WSP has an exciting role available for a Procurement Specialistto join our NSDF project. Reporting to the project Supply Chain Lead, this position will be responsible for supporting a wide range of purchasing and subcontracting activities on the NSDF project, providing high quality and timely support to meet schedule and budget.

The opportunity is to join the WSP team responsible for the execution of the Near Surface Disposal (NSDF) Project in Chalk River. The NSDF project represents a 5-year build of the low-level waste repository in Chalk River, with an estimated capital cost of more than $500M.

Please note we will consider candidates based in various locations throughout Canada, but this opportunity is based at the project site in Chalk River, Ontario .

A day in the life:

• Demonstrate a clear understanding of procurement and contracting procedures/workflows and how they relate to client-specific and/or project requirements.
• Responsible for a variety of procurement tasks, varying in nature and urgency, such as:
• Develop bidders list for purchase packages, services and subcontracts.
• Bid package preparation, issuing RFQ (Request for Quote) and expediting orders as required.
• Evaluation of supplier quotes/proposals, including resolving clarifications and negotiations as required
• Preparing recommendations for award.
• Creating and issuing purchase requisitions, POs, service agreements and subcontracts (with approval).
• Work closely with the project Supply Chain Lead to meet project requirements and deadlines.
• Work closely with the project team to understand project requirements, including potential change orders.
• Develop effective working relationships with all project stakeholders, including the customer, the WSP project team, project partner personnel and suppliers and subcontractors.
• Closeout PO’s, service agreements and subcontracts once all contractual and procedural requirements have been met.
• Manage deadlines and ensure appropriate communication is provided to relevant parties when schedule conflicts or potential delays arise.
• Maintain project procurement reports on the project SharePoint
• Collaborate with all levels of the WSP project team, the customer and and partner personnel in an effective manner.
• Filing, reporting and related procurement administrative activities as required to support the project.
• Actively support the project team to meet procurement targets and deadlines

What you’ll bring to WSP:

• A degree, diploma or certificate in business, supply chain management or other applicable area.
• 2+ year’s previous purchasing and subcontracting experience.
• Previous experience on a major project.
• High proficiency in MS Office; experience working within the Horizon Oracle business management system would be an asset
