Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
We’re looking for an individual with prior Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience to help improve our product offering and add more value to our customers by identifying new potential product opportunities; conducting market research; generating product requirements; determining specifications, production timetables, pricing, and time-integrated plans for product introduction; developing marketing strategies. Candidates with previous experience with CPG and category management in the meat/food space will be prioritized.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The roles and responsibilities of the Product Manager include, but are not limited to:
- Determines customers’ needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.
- Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; and appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.
- Assesses market competition by comparing the company’s products to competitors’ products.
- Provides source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.
- Obtains product market share by working with sales to develop product sales strategies.
- Assesses product market data by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results.
- Provides information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests.
- Facilitates inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and production schedules.
- Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.
- Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, Marketing, and Operations.
- Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customized orders.
- Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- 5+ years of product management experience in product innovation role
- Proven experience generating and utilizing qualitative and quantitative data to identify opportunities for a product - actively working to remove implicit bias
- You love working in teams and by nature are a curious, yet humble learner who thrives in an ambiguous and fast paced environment
- Strong ability to create alignment and understanding - to help translate between technology, UX, and business-oriented perspectives
- A natural collaborator and excellent communicator who seeks out new perspectives and builds trusting relationships with stakeholders
- Outcome oriented with experience de-risking major product efforts
- Motivated by solving interesting problems, learning new things, and working with smart people
- Proven experience identifying and prioritizing the most important things amongst a myriad of important things
- Experienced with being handed a big problem to solve and leading a team to discover and deliver viable solutions
- You are persistent in pushing companies beyond their comfort zones with compelling evidence, data, and collaborative communication
- Demonstrated success developing and launching new innovations from concept to delivery
- Experience within a B2C, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), brand, or category management role in food and/or meat space, required.
