Responsible for a variety of duties in support of the day-to-day operations of the Member of Provincial Parliament in their office. Responds to telephone and written inquiries, feedback and questions raised by residents of Dufferin-Caledon. Collaborates with other staff to produce communication materials.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Respond, document, and update constituent inquiries from all sources including phone, email, in-person and mail.
· Perform quick scan for media monitoring of the riding to identify issues affecting the riding and pull out anything relating to the MPP for documenting and follow up if necessary.
· Maintain current records/database/mailing lists to avoid duplication and to ensure database is updated and maintained
· Coordinating shipping requirements as necessary to send out materials or promotional items.
· Prepare congratulatory scrolls for special occasions (business openings, birthdays, etc.), obituaries, sympathy cards, Christmas card list or any other special event notifications.
· Attend local community events on behalf of or with the Member as required; may include some evenings and weekends
· Brainstorm ideas for outreach possibilities.
· Assist with creating and post engaging content for social media platforms
· Conduct community outreach such as grand openings and local events
· Other duties as assigned
Requirements
· Diploma or Degree in Public Relations, media or equivalent experience.
· General office administration knowledge and experience is required including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
· Strong, effective communication skills both written and oral, to deal with all levels of personnel.
· Ability to work with members of the public.
· Multi-tasking to handle projects efficiently and in a fast-paced environment.
· Detail oriented, organized, and able to work as part of a small team.
· Knowledge of municipal, provincial and federal levels of government an asset.
· Comfortable working with Facebook, X as well as preparing written materials like press releases and brochures.
