This position reports to the Supply Chain Director. A key function of this role is managing vendor relations. We will also consider applicants who have been in management roles where negotiations and relationship building were key functions of those roles .
Key Responsibilities:
● Regular communication with suppliers/vendors
● Setting strategic directions for material group family
● Coaching and developing the team beyond the immediate needs
Competencies:
● Clear English communications skills
● Ability to lead complex negotiations with local and international suppliers
Functional expertise:
● Post-secondary education is preferred
● Previous experience in a higher level management role in the areas of supply chain or sales or finance or similar
● Demonstrated leadership skills; team development
● Strong negotiation skills with a focus on maintaining positive relationships with suppliers is required
● Broad commercial and supply chain experience is required
● Previous experience in the area of being a strong influence of internal stakeholders and outside vendors is required
● Technical background in the area of reading and understanding mechanical blueprints
Negotiation skills:
● Plan, prepare and conduct negotiations supported by a fact base
● Consider broad commercial and non-commercial factors in negotiation
● Define potential scenarios, negotiation roles and a negotiation strategy
● Prepare and execute negotiation tactics and approaches including ability to adapt/flex tactics during a negotiation
