Responsibilities:
- Reports to: Operations Manager/Production Manager
1. Responsibilities:
- Maintain excellent attendance record
- Interpretation of client quality specifications and standards
- Development of client specific Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) as required
- Ensure manufactured products meet a pre-determined quality standard
- Implement additional client driven quality requirements
- Co-ordination of third-party weld inspection as required
- Search and review drawings electronically as needed for verification
- Interpret part and fabrication assembly drawings to perform quality checks
- Accurately measure and verify material thickness (in both Metric & Imperial)
- Visually inspect finished product for quality and size of weld, tagging/marking, finish e.g. prime, paint, powder coat, galvanize, etc.
- Report quality problems or concerns to management in a timely fashion
- Data entry of finished drawing package for completion of quality report
- Generate and update spreadsheets
- Verify data by comparing it to source documents
- Create reports from data provided
- Organize and file paperwork after entering data
- Compilation of final quality documentation package as per client requirements
2. Requirements/Qualifications
- Previous experience in a steel fabrication environment an asset
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, procedures and practices
- CWB Level 1 Visual Weld Inspection ticket would be an asset, otherwise possess a solid knowledge of welding process and quality of welds e.g. undercut, lack of fusion, porosity, cold lap and spatter
- Must have good communication, time management and organizational skills
- Possess problem solving skills
- Must be physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs. and be on feet for long periods
- Able to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to speak and understand English clearly
3. Health & Safety Responsibilities:
- Active participation in company safety program
- Follow safety protocol including wearing of required PPE and understanding and application of safety policies, procedures and practices
