What does your day at GIP look like?

The Quality Control Field Technician will be responsible for supporting all aspects of Quality Control under the supervision of project managers, supervisors or scheduling coordinators.

• Inspect the quality of construction and construction materials (aggregates and asphalt).
• Monitor material placement and workmanship.
• Review documents and specifications.
• Maintain daily check list diary and site activities.
• Report any non-conformance concerns while on site to management.
• Execute tests in the field or laboratory on construction materials to assess their quality.
• Prepare and collect Aggregates and asphalt samples for laboratory testing.
• Perform compaction testing by Nuclear Densometer.
• Asphalt coring
• Ensure accuracy of test data.
• Perform visual inspections of roadways
• Maintain equipment
• Maintain calibration of equipment

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

• Civil Engineering Technology / Construction Management would be considered an asset, however not required.
• CCIL Certification for Asphalt or Aggregate would be considered an asset, however, not required
• Previous industry experience in Quality Control, manufacturing, asphalt lab or other lab environment would be an asset, however, not required
• Knowledge of ASTM/CCIL/MTO LS testing procedures would be an asset.
• Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and Power point would be an asset.
• Teamwork oriented.
• Ability to work independently.
• Highly organized.
• Full time hours in the construction season. Flexibility needed to work shifts that may include nights, and weekends when required.
• Attention to detail and problem solving.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lb of material in a bucket, when required. Use of hand tools such as a shovel, hammer and lifting is required for short durations, on a daily basis.
• Valid driver’s license.
