Duties and responsibilities:
- Using person-centred approaches, develops, implements, coordinates and facilitates a variety of community-based individual and/or group activities for participants experiencing disability, providing opportunities for community connections, personal development, and recreation under the Being, Belonging, Becoming framework.
- Works collaboratively with support workers, participants, and participants support networks in the development and actualization (i.e., steps, follow-through, progress monitoring) of each participants person-centred plan.
- Promotes the concept of Being, Belonging, Becoming through facilitation of group learning sessions and the development of meaningful community-based volunteer experiences for participants.
- Provides daily guidance, support, and direction to support workers, through coaching, role modelling, and motivating in order to support participants to achieve their goals.
- Ensures the on-going functioning of the Helping You Be, Belong, Become (HUB) program, including participation in rotating Coordinator of the Day duties.
- Researches, creates and writes learning module and program content, including the assessment and evaluation of effectiveness, and revisions, as required.
Qualifications:
- Degree in related human services field (e.g., Therapeutic Recreation, Sport and Recreation Studies, Kinesiology Education, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, etc.) with minimum five years experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of supporting individuals experiencing disability.
- Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills, empowering people to build independence.
- Knowledge of community opportunities and service providers.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence and a reliable vehicle.
