We are looking for an experienced Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. This position's responsibilities include independently running and supervising the entire accounting operations for the team, ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all our accounting tasks, as well as preparing the Financial Reporting and consolidation for all the stakeholders. A successful candidate combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements independently, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements and any supporting schedules on demand.
- Produce and lead the month-end consolidated financial statements reporting for multiple legal entities to the board and directors.
- Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness, including, but not limited to, revenue, expenses, inventories, bank statements, general ledgers, payroll entries and other financial records.
- Prepare and file tax returns and other related tax documents, including, but not limited to GST/HST filing, Payroll (WSIB/EHT) filing and ad hoc.
- Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
- Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses.
- Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers and spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide technical support and advice to the accounting team.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- A minimum of 3-5+ years experience in Financial Reporting and consolidation.
- BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant experience is considered an asset. Relevant certification (e.g. CPA) is preferred.
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and full cycle accounting.
- Excellent leadership abilities, experience with managing a team of accounting professionals.
- Proficient with MS Office, Excel, and QuickBooks Enterprise.
- Sound knowledge with payroll (Ceridian or Deluxe) systems.
- Excellent organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail.
