The Senior Manager, Finance is responsible for the oversight of all financial policies and procedures for non-operating costs including investments and SG&A. This role will work with all functions of the business to ensure budgeting, tracking, forecasting, analysis and reporting of all non-operating expenses is well understood and that the defined processes are adhered to.
Responsibilities
- Manage the financial governance related to projects that are in EPMO scope as well as "Mega Projects" out of EPMO's scope.
- Oversee a team of financial analysts and work closely with Project Managers and Project Owners from all business functions to ensure that all financial details in business cases, actual spend, forecasts, benefit tracking, etc., are well understood and that defined processes are being adhered to.
- A key responsibility of this role will be establishing a sustainable process for tracking financial benefits across projects including EPMO and mega-projects. EPMO maintains responsibility for working with the business and the business units' finance support to define the benefits while the Senior Manager, Finance is responsible for establishing processes to track benefits and overseeing the actual tracking and budgeting of project benefits once implemented in the business.
- Manage preparation of all reporting and analysis required for MBR/QBR/Audit Committee reporting for all investments, capital, and SG&A functional areas.
- Assume responsibility for Financial Planning and budgeting of SG&A, Investments and Capital including annual financial planning & budgeting as well as five-year planning and related support in developing strategic plans.
- Working with the Director, FP&A the Senior Manager, Finance will be the key liaison to the Strategy team in developing five-year investment profiles for Purolator's annual strategy review with the Board of Directors.
Additional Responsibilities
- Financial planning and reporting of investments capital and mega projects will be completed in close consultation with the EPMO organization.
- Provide strategic insights to all SG&A functional leaders to drive optimum financial performance vs budget through a team of SG&A analysts who work with all non-operating functions to build budgets, monitor spend, forecast, and report on variances.
- Simplify and standardize modelling, reporting and processes wherever possible whilst ensuring that the requirements of the business are achieved.
- Any other ad hoc projects.
- Cross training within the team as required.
EPMO & Mega Project Accountability:
- Drive standardized process & review month end accruals prepared by Project Cost Analysts for portfolio projects.
- Drive Business case financial modelling standardization with a focus on establishing clearly understood Investment cost and benefit realization models and templates.
- Develop, enhance, and improve standardized cost management & benefit tracking processes & templates for all projects, once projects are approved (month end process)
- Liaise with internal Finance team regarding capitalization, cash management, LoC's, significant payments, etc.
- Lead planning & forecasting for Mega projects and act as the key financial liaison with FP&A team relating to Investment expense, Depreciation and Capital spending for planning and forecasting purposes.
- Complete Month end reconciliation with internal reporting (I/O & CC) at a summary level (capital vs. expense) for Mega projects
- Review CR's and contingency implications
- Review and provide overview of invoices related to key contracts.
- Provide input as required for SteerCo meetings, Board of Directors, and Committee decks.
Qualifications:
- University degree in finance or business plus a CPA designation is required.
- 8+ Years of related experience; experience in transportation would be ideal.
- Team management experience required.
- Must possess strong analytical, strategic, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Must possess advanced financial modeling skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication with solid presentation skills
- Proven ability to effectively influence at all levels of the organization.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with SAP
