THE ROLE:

This is a specialist / project management role that supports AMD's world-wide software engineering teams in their efforts to develop GPU, APU, and CPU products. You will be responsible for understanding the product roadmap and schedules, soliciting hardware requirements from the development teams, consolidating the requirements and entering them into our Samples Management System, following up and receiving the hardware, and distributing it to the teams. As you gain experience, you will be expected to be able to forecast requirements for financial planning purposes. You will also be responsible for managing faulty hardware and arranging for repair or rework, which entails receiving and tracking the hardware from the software teams, creating repair requests along with potential rework instructions from our hardware teams, and return the hardware after repair.

This position also plays a key role in supporting Operations in the management of capital, operational expense planning, attainment and resource utilization. Additionally, you will contribute to corporate governance initiatives and process improvements through data management activities such as data collection, organization, processing and analysis using Excel formulas, pivots and functions.


THE PERSON:

You are a strong communicator and a self starter. You will be expected to work independently, yet in a collaborative fashion, be self-motivated, task orientated, and sufficiently flexible to handle new challenges outside the key responsibilities. You can work effectively with a variety of stakeholders to drive deliverables to completion. You are detail-oriented, you plan, implement, and evaluate the work, you are detailed oriented and comfortable with financial planning, tracking and budgeting.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive Material Management activities by way of gathering hardware requirements from the software engineering teams, consolidate requirements, enter these in AMD's Samples Management System.
  • Follow up with program managers on engineering samples orders, changes, and urgent requests.
  • Handle shipment logistics for hardware in support of local and global teams.
  • Coordinate the movement of engineering samples among Markham Hardware Library, NPI labs, and other engineering teams.
  • Manage hardware reworks, debugging, sample repairs local and global sites teams.
  • Handle team requests to locate unplanned engineering samples, while also managing physical inventory and tracking weekly balance of shipped vs ordered hardware. Support Operations team in the management of capital, operational expense planning, attainment and resource utilization.
  • Provide general support to the Operations team through data collection and analysis, in support of corporate governance initiatives and process improvements.
  • Reconciliation of actual hardware cost vs budgeted cost
  • Collaborate and follow up with component teams in support of operations requests, tracking that funds and hardware attainment
  • Track actual outside services and contractor expenses in support of monthly roll up


REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with others to ensure on-time delivery of results
  • Solid track record of working within timelines and bold schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly, is a self-starter and proactive
  • Experience evaluating risks and tradeoffs, and present solution options to managing teams


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in the electronics manufacturing field, inventory control and management process, and related program management skills.
  • Strong experience with databases for data/order entries, and query searches of inventory.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables and v-lookups.
  • Strong knowledge of computer equipment, motherboards, graphic cards, and comfortable in handling of computer hardware and PCBs.
  • Knowledge of electronic components and schematics is an asset.
  • Ability to lift boxes up to 20 lbs. or heavier boxes with assistance.


ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent level of experience
