Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

The Opportunity:Equitable is growing! We are looking for a Senior Technology Specialist, Digital Workplace to join our IT Infrastructure team! Equitable continues to grow and evolve. We are looking for a Senior Technology Specialist, Digital Workplace to join the IT Infrastructure, Cloud and Service Management team. You will be part of a highly engaged and motivated team of Digital Workplace professionals supporting our productivity and collaboration systems and services. In this role you will be a key subject matter expert to help with collaboration and communications platforms such as Teams and SharePoint; managing newly implemented, state-of-the-art hybrid collaboration Teams rooms; supporting frequent company, team, and executive townhalls and learning forums, and; helping engage and train all levels of the organization in effective use of our awesome technology platforms.

What you will be doing:

  • Be a champion, advocate, and trainer within the organization in all productivity and collaboration systems and platforms.
  • Maintain and grow the company-wide collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams (including Teams Phone and Teams Townhalls) and Outlook/Exchange Online.
  • Administration and operations of the Microsoft SharePoint online system and services.
  • Provide strong expertise and top-tier support for Microsoft Office productivity suite systems and services.
  • Provide high-touch technical and audio-visual systems support and preparation for company events, townhalls and other forums. This may include limited video and audio mixing and production capacities, as well as event-production facilitation and support.
  • Ensure that incidents, requests, and problems are fully documented, updated, and actioned to resolution.
  • Build and maintain a variety of training materials and knowledge-sharing across multiple formats (documentation, videos).
  • Constantly stay abreast of the evolving technology landscape and identify new solutions and opportunities to help company team members.
  • Mentor and guide team members in technology, practices, procedures, and capabilities.


What you will bring:

  • Five (5) or more years of technology infrastructure experience, with an emphasis on end user computing / productivity & collaborations systems.
  • Experience supporting unified communications or client care technologies is a strong asset.
  • Contemporary Microsoft productivity & collaboration systems certifications.
  • ITIL v3 / v4 Foundations a strong asset.
  • Comfortable working under pressure with a smile on your face.
  • Comfortable in a team setting, working alongside colleagues to complete a project tactically and efficiently.
  • Love to get your hands on and deep with hardware and software that supports the Digital Workplace.
  • Adept and comfortable preparing and presenting content to different types of audiences - technical and non-technical; large and small.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and relationship management abilities with the capability to work at and across different levels of the organization.
  • A willingness and ability to install, setup and take-down audio-visual hardware and systems inclusive of lighting, speakers, TVs, stands, and other equipment.
  • A critical thinker and problem solver.
  • Have an affinity to streamline and automate repetitive tasks.
  • Positive attitude in a fast-paced working environment.
