Job Description
The opportunity
Reporting to the AVP, Treasury Finance, the Senior Treasury Analyst is an important member of the Shared Service team with a focus on supporting Treasury Finance's reporting/disclosure requirements and capital/funding initiative. The incumbent will be responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting associated with Treasury's inputs to the company's internal and external requirements, the maintenance of various financial and capital models, and the reporting of capital activities.
The position will require interaction and collaboration within Treasury & Capital Management, Group Planning, Investor Relations, and other areas within the Company.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare timely, complete and accurate information associated with Treasury Finance's input to the company's internal and external processes, including various financial statement note disclosures, calculating leverage and coverage ratios, leverage sensitive analysis, and interest expense schedules, as well as supporting Treasury-managed initiatives
  • Support the monitoring of Treasury capital activities, including valuation of the Company's debt and capital instruments for external reporting, share buyback and dividend reinvestment reporting, capital market monitors, quarterly Treasury Finance fact sheet, and dividend peer analysis.
  • Prepare MFC's quarterly earnings coverage ratio package; support the execution of debt/capital issuances by preparing proforma earnings coverage ratio package to be reviewed by external auditors and included in the prospectus supplement
  • Manage the global data collection and validation process for the banking relationship, balance of trade, and high net worth reporting processes.
  • Support various letter of credit ("LOC") processes, including fee payments, officer certificates, and LOC reporting
  • Validate the accuracy of data contained in rating agency reports and press releases; maintain and update rating agency financial models used to measure and monitor certain financial strength metrics; research and gather rating agency materials
  • Support Treasury Finance's input into various company-wide activities, including the Strategic Plan, Financial Condition Testing, and Recovery Plan
  • Support the Shared Services team by embracing cross-training, collaboration and peer reviews, while acting as a backup for select reports and processes when other team members are unavailable
  • Provide support for the maintenance of effective controls over external reporting processes; assist in the coordination and facilitation of external and internal audit requests as required
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of ongoing processes and increase the value of reports

What we are looking for
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or quantitative discipline
  • A professional accounting designation or CFA, or working towards a designation would be considered an asset
  • Previous work experience in Treasury/Finance, and specific knowledge of capital market instruments would be considered an asset
  • Good understanding of PowerBI, including how to modify PowerBI to resolve database linkage issues; programming/coding skills (e.g. VBA, SQL, SAS) are definite assets
  • Strong spreadsheet, financial modelling and PowerPoint skills
  • Working knowledge of Bloomberg is preferred.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and sound judgement is paramount due to the publicly disclosed nature of some of the reporting requirements
  • Good understanding of the overall business environment to support meaningful analysis is helpful
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage internal relationships through collaboration (within the department and across the company)

Salary & Benefits
The annual base salary for this role is listed below.
Primary Location
Toronto, Ontario
Salary range is expected to be between
$70,350.00 CAD - $117,250.00 CAD
