Job description

Position Opportunity
This position touches all aspects of Technical user support throughout the City. As an ITS Customer Service team member your roll would be reporting to the Director of GIS/IT, the Service Desk Technician builds customer relationships, troubleshoots to resolve customer technology needs, and works in a high-energy, team-based environment.
The Service Desk Technician's role is to ensure proper computer operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end user help requests. Problem resolution involves the use of diagnostic tools, and may occasionally require in-person, hands-on support.
You will also work with direct technical, installation, maintenance and advisory support services for their computer equipment, software, telephony systems, wireless networks and mobile communication devices.
As the technology landscape rapidly changes, it presents challenges unique challenges to Service Desk staff, dynamic solutions and continuous learning for individuals is needed.

Responsibilities
  • Responding to customer support calls, tickets and requests
  • Logging calls and resolutions into our service request system
  • Troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and operating system issues
  • Setting up new user accounts and configuring required hardware
  • Creating and maintaining user security and email accounts
  • Configuration, deploying and recycling computers, laptops, and phones
  • Maintaining installation and resolution guides as required
  • Maintenance and support of AV equipment
  • Creating user documents and communication posts for non-technical users

  • Good understanding of desktop/laptop hardware and peripherals, Microsoft Operating Systems, and Microsoft Office Suites

  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly

  • Valid driver's license
  • RCMP Security Clearance required upon employment
Education
  • High School Diploma
  • A+ certification and networking fundamentals
  • Post-Secondary Computer Sciences, Computer Technician, or
  • 2 or more years of equivalent experience
Hours of Work
Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm with some holidays and on-call requirements. 35 hours per week. Potential after-hours work. The position term is for 9 months.
Salary / Wage
The rate of pay for this position is $34.71 per hour.
