Site Assistant/ Carpenter

Laebon Homes has an opportunity to join its Construction team as a Site Assistant/ Journeyman Carpenter.

The candidate must work well with peers as well as trades and suppliers. Preference will be given to candidates with past residential or commercial construction experience.

Job Summary:

As a Site Assistant/ Journeyman Carpenter, you will be working with our team on a 318-unit multi-family apartment complex located in the community of Belvedere.

Key Duties & Responsibilities: Includes, but not limited to the following:

• General construction duties
• General carpentry such as back framing
• Complete framing inspections to ensure all details are and standards are followed accordingly
• Complete building envelope inspections
• Complete pre-drywall inspections
• Pre-occupancy turnover preparation and inspections to ensure company standards are met.
• Quality control from start to finish
• Take part in project meetings with subcontractors
• Assist the site supervisor with monitoring the construction schedule
• Assist the site supervisor with the coordination of subcontractors on site by answering questions, helping with site logistics and ensuring the scopes of work are being followed.
• Take a proactive approach to problem solving when issues arise.
• Ensure jobsite cleanliness is maintained
• Ensure all trade partners are following proper safety procedures and policies
• Complete safety inspections and follow all company safety protocols.
• Other duties as assigned by the site superintendent

Job Qualifications:

• Journeyman Carpenter would be an asset
• Minimum of 1 year Residential or commercial construction experience
• Knowledge of the Albert Building Code would be an asset
• Knowledge of residential construction and the ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• An understanding of multi-family wood frame construction
• Strong work ethic with a positive “can do” attitude
• Work independently and as part of a team on day-to-day tasks and projects.
• Ability to adapt to unforeseen changes and meet changing deadlines
• Detail oriented and goal driven.
• Willingness/ability to do physically demanding work
• Must have a valid drivers license and own transportation
• Will need basic hand tools (hammer, tape measure, drill, saws etc.)
