Position Overview:
Wander the Spa, a serene Nordic-inspired wellness retreat located in Bloomfield, ON, is seeking a dedicated Maintenance / Pool Technician to join our team. As the Maintenance / Pool Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our spa facilities, including our pool and other water features. Your attention to detail and technical expertise will contribute to creating an exceptional environment for our guests to relax and rejuvenate.
Responsibilities:
- Pool Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the spa's pool and water features. This includes monitoring water quality, pH levels, and chemical balances, as well as vacuuming, skimming, and backwashing as needed.
- Equipment Inspection and Repair: Conduct regular inspections of pool equipment, including pumps, filters, heaters, and chlorinators, to identify any issues or malfunctions. Perform repairs and replacements as necessary to maintain optimal performance and safety standards.
- Facility Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance and repair of spa facilities, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building upkeep. Address any issues related to lighting, fixtures, flooring, and other amenities to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for guests and staff.
- Cleaning and Sanitation: Follow established protocols for cleaning and sanitising spa facilities, equipment, and common areas. This includes disinfecting surfaces, replenishing supplies, and removing debris to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Preventive Maintenance: Implement a preventive maintenance program to proactively identify and address potential issues before they escalate. Develop and maintain maintenance schedules for equipment and facilities, ensuring timely inspections and servicing.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines governing pool operations, water quality, and safety. Keep abreast of industry standards and best practices to uphold the highest standards of safety and sanitation.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely replenishment. Monitor usage and expenditures to optimise efficiency and control costs.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other spa staff members, including management, front desk personnel, and therapists, to coordinate maintenance activities and minimise disruptions to spa operations.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to maintenance emergencies, such as equipment failures, leaks, or power outages, to minimise downtime and ensure guest safety and satisfaction.
- Documentation and Reporting: Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and expenditures. Generate reports as required to track performance metrics, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvement.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in maintenance, preferably in a spa, hospitality, or recreational facility.
- Knowledge of pool operations, water chemistry, and maintenance practices.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair equipment and systems.
- Familiarity with plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Certification or training in pool maintenance and water treatment (e.g., Certified Pool Operator) is preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service-oriented approach.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labour and lift heavy objects.
- Valid driver's licence and clean driving record.
