Job Summary
Contribute to Resource Operations in the Thompson Okanagan
The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship has the primary responsibility for managing BC's water resource, including authorizations, water rights management, and drought planning and response. Regional staff deliver front line services across the province, and collaborate with internal and external partners to help ensure provincial water management is effective and sustainable. The Permitting Transformation division is focused on developing agile approaches to ongoing permitting and Statutory Decision Making (SDM) challenges across areas of process, legislation, policy and systems.
The Section Head provides supervision for the Permitting Transformation Division, Authorizations Branch, Crown Land Authorizations team in the Thompson Okanagan, including managing staff and financial resources, managing stakeholder relationships, applying legislation, and policies in a consistent manner, participating in provincial policy development, and overseeing program delivery and technical projects.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in the natural resource management field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing technical and/or professional staff in resource management or infrastructure development.
  • Experience in negotiating/mediating solutions.
  • Experience withpublic consultation processes dealing with resource management or infrastructure development issues.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Experience in performing technical duties under, and working with, Legislation, Regulation and Agreements associated with Crown land management, i.e.: Land Act; Ministry of Lands, Parks and Housing Act; Land Title and Survey Authority Act; Land Title Act; Land Survey Act.
  • Experience in participating in consultations/negotiations with First Nations.
