Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and caring individual to join our team as a permanent full timeVeterinary Assistant. As a key member of our clinic, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of our patients and the smooth operation of our facility. Your compassion, attention to detail, and strong work ethic will contribute to the overall success of Port Elgin Veterinary Clinic.

Responsibilities:

· Assist veterinarians during examinations and medical procedures.

· Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians.

· Perform routine laboratory procedures and diagnostic tests.

· Prepare and maintain exam rooms

· Monitor and help with care for hospitalized animals.

· Assist in educating clients on pet care, medications, and post-treatment instructions.

· Handle and restrain animals in a calm and gentle manner.

· Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic medical records.

· Provide support in maintaining a clean and organized clinic environment.

· Occasionally assisting the reception team by answer phones or billing out clients

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent; Veterinary Assistant certification is a plus.

· Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is required.

· Passion for working with animals and their owners.

· Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with clients in a friendly and professional manner.

· Ability to multitask, work efficiently under pressure, and prioritize tasks.

· Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.

· Physical stamina to lift and move animals of varying sizes.

· Flexibility to work weekends and occasional evenings as needed.

· Experience with AviMark is not preferred but is an asset

Applicants must have previous Veterinary experience. Candidates without may not be considered for the position.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 per week
