The Accounting Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient performance of the Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) accounting function by ensuring controls, procedures and systems are in place to safeguard the HRCE's assets, provide management information and comply with all legislated reporting requirements. The Accounting Manager will assist in the preparation of the Region's annual, monthly and quarterly financial reports and work with auditors, HRCE Departments and HRCE Committees to assist HRCE in the achievement of its financial goals and objectives. Consistent with Department of Education and Regional Centres of Education policies, the Accounting Manager will work within an accountability framework to ensure schools are receiving service levels that respond to the needs of the system. Working collaboratively within the Department, the Accounting Manager will demonstrate a strong commitment to planning for improvement in support of student learning and reports directly to the Coordinator, Financial Services.
Qualifications:
a) Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA), or the equivalent obtained through training and experience;
b) Minimum 3 (three) years experience in a management/supervisory role, with previous progressive experience in an accounting environment;
c) Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel at an advanced level;
d) Public sector accounting experience considered an asset;
e) Experience with SAP is considered an asset
Rate of Pay:
This is a Professional Employees Group (PEG) position classified on the Education Entities Non-Union Compensation Framework at Band 11 with an annual range between $90,102 to $112,627.
