Job Summary

Justice Services Branch (JSB) works to support British Columbia's commitment to a justice and public safety sector founded on the rule of law, encompassing administrative, civil, criminal, family and Indigenous justice, and human rights.
The Senior Policy Analyst initiates, or is assigned to, complex policy and legislation projects in response to initiatives and priorities of the ministry related to Legal Aid and Legal Access policy. The Analyst also responds to issues related to the ministry mandate and legislation or projects that are initiated by other ministries, municipalities, the federal government, the judiciary or stakeholders that are related to Legal Aid and Legal Access Policy.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Public Administration, Political Science, Law, Social Sciences or a related field, and 3 years of *related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • *Related experience must include all the following:
    • Researching, analyzing, developing and delivering complex policy and legislation initiatives or program reforms.
    • Leading or significantly contributing to policy and/or legislation projects from conception to completion.
    • Developing and providing options and policy recommendations to support executive level decision making.
    • Managing relationships with external partners or service providers; this may include providing oversight of financial activities, and monitoring performance.
    • Preparing and writing executive decision documents such as briefing notes, Treasury Board submissions,Cabinet submissions, discussion papers and reports.
    • Working with senior government officials, senior professionals and/or stakeholders.

Preference may be given to candidates with:
  • A graduate degree in a related field of study.
