Job Summary
A dynamic role for a skilled analyst with excellent research andcommunication skills
Working within the Electricity Utility and Regulation Division (EURD) of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation under the direction of the Director, Strategic Initiatives, Columbia River Treaty (CRT), the Policy Advisor supports technical modelling, assessment and evaluation related to impacts of the CRT and potential operational alternatives and other initiatives to enhance ecosystems and Indigenous Cultural Values, and leads analysis and development of strategic and transboundary policies, processes, communication and initiatives that lead to the refinement, enhancement and improvement of CRT negotiations and, if a modernized Treaty is reached, implementation of a modernized CRT.
The CRT Branch works within EURD, through British Columbia's lead CRT negotiator, to improve and maintain the Canada-United States bilateral Columbia River Treaty. The Branch works alongside three Indigenous Nation partners and Global Affairs Canada as wellmultiple agencies and regional stakeholders. For the CRT, the Policy Advisor supports negotiations, internal and external communications, technical modelling and analysis, and briefings.
Job Requirements:
  • Master's degree in natural resource management, technical or social sciences, public administration, business administration, law, economics, or a field related to the program area and 2 years of related experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in natural resource management, technical or social sciences, public administration, business administration, law, economics, or a field related to the program area and 3 years of related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience must include:
  • Experience in the development of legislation, regulation and policy.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments.
  • Experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content.
