Job Summary
Bring your leadership in office administration to this fast-paced role
Pursuant to the federal Youth Criminal Justice Act and the provincial Youth Justice Act, a range of youth justice programs and services are provided throughout the province directly by ministry staff and through contracted agencies. The Specialized Intervention and Youth Justice Branch (SIYJ) supports the justice system by providing the courts with assessments and reports to assist in the imposition of orders and sentences, supervision and guidance of youth in the community, in the administration of orders involving the incarceration of youth and the provision of custody services. Protection of the public is achieved through supervision of youth involved in the justice system, monitoring and enforcement of court orders and especially, the provision of intentionally targeted support and rehabilitative services to youth.
An array of youth justice related services and programs are directly managed by the Branch, and supported by providing guidance, advice and consultation to other youth justice areas within the ministry.
Community-based programs are delivered by the Ministry through service delivery areas while youth custody programs and related youth forensic psychiatric services and adolescent treatment programs and services are administered through the Specialized Intervention and Youth Justice Branch (SIYJ).
The Executive Assistant manages issues and office administration services for the Executive Director of Youth Justice & Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services, Deputy Provincial Director of Youth Custody Services, and Director of Program Support. The Executive Assistant supervises administrative and/or program support staff.
Job Requirements:
  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Experience providing administrative and financial support services for a group of staff.
  • Experience leading others.

Preference may be given to candidates with any of the following:
  • Five (5) or more years experience providing administrative/clerical support.
  • One (1) year or more experience supervising administrative staff in a unionized environment.
  • Experience with document tracking systems (CLIFF, eApprovals).
  • Experience with Youth Justice specific systems, including CORNET and JUSTIN.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
