CONTROLLER/HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER
Full-time Position (37.5 hrs/week)
The Parry Sound Friendship Centre Rural-Urban is currently accepting resumes for a full-time “Controller/Human Resource Officer”. This position will assist in overseesing all financial and accounting activities. He/she will be responsible for budget management, financial analysis, payroll, accounts payable, account receivable, and financial reporting. The Controller role will also be charged with the critical responsibility of quarterly reports to OFIFC and any other funders. Under the Human Resource Officer role, the key areas within human resources will be administered in conjunction with the CEO, including policy and procedure compliance and development and maintenance of HR practices. The Controller/Human Resource Officer will report only with items pertaining to financials to the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and anything pertaining to the Human Resource portion of his/her position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Human Resource area of responsibilities in conjunction with the CEO:
Ø Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall organizations strategy
Ø Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues
Ø Manage the recruitment and selection process
Ø Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and
preservation of human capital
Ø Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the Organization
Ø Nurture a positive working environment
Ø Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
Ø Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics
Ø Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management
Ø Manage and maintain the PurelyHR system
Ø Assist department managers with hiring staff, including posting jobs online, scheduling interviews,
and generating offer letters.
Ø Implement personnel on-boarding and off-boarding procedures.
Ø Ensure compliance with Personal Policies and Procedures
Controller area of responsibilities in conjunction with the CFO:
Ø Manage the preparation and processing of payroll for personnel using Automatic Data Processing (ADP) Payroll System
Ø Minimum three years supervisory working experience in an accounting department, preferably within an indigenous organization would be an asset
Ø Ability to make decisions and assume responsibility and accountability for successful completion of assignments and tasks
Ø Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departmental staff
Ø Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills
Ø Communicate financial metrics to the CEO/CFO
Ø Oversee benefits enrollment and management.
Ø Ensure compliance with Finance Policies and Procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ø University degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
Ø Certified Aboriginal Financial Manager (CAFM) Designation an asset
Ø Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) an asset
Ø Skilled in Quickbooks Accounting, Microsoft Office and other software/databases
Ø Knowledge and/or experience in the not-for-profit and charity sectors is an asset.
Ø University degree or college diploma in human resources management or a related field, such as business administration, industrial relations, commerce or psychology or completion of a professional development program in human resources administration is required.
