Position Title: Student Recruitment Officer (5 positions available)
Status: Support Project of Non-Recurring Kind (August 2023 - December 2023)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Payband/ Hourly Rate Range: PT Support band 7 $26.65 - $32.32
What you will do:
The Student Recruitment Officer interacts with prospective students, applicants and their supporters throughout the recruitment and admission process to provide timely, accurate and engaging information through multiple platforms. The Student Recruitment Officer is an ambassador, representing the University positively at in-person and virtual events, fairs, information sessions, webinars, on social media channels, etc. and communicating information about the University’s academic programs, student services, scholarships, and admission policies in a professional, effective and compelling way.
The incumbent has outstanding public presentation and interpersonal skills; an understanding of all aspects of diversity in a secondary school environment; strong digital knowledge and online presence, is flexible, organized, able to work well independently and in a team environment; has well-developed judgment and problem-solving skills; and superior verbal and written communication. At all times the incumbent demonstrates energy, enthusiasm for meeting new people and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. The incumbent demonstrates empathy, and confidentiality when advising prospective students on their postsecondary options, addressing concerns and inquiries to guide future students and their supporters to consider the University of Guelph-Humber as their postsecondary choice.
The Student Recruitment Officer significantly contributes to the shaping of the public image of the University and on the prospective student’s postsecondary decision-making process. This role is a strategic component of the University of Guelph-Humber’s overall enrolment strategy and in achieving revenue targets by generating a strong applicant pool of qualified students in an increasingly competitive postsecondary environment.
Please note: The travel component of this position requires the successful incumbent to hold a valid Ontario ‘G’ level driver’s license, have access to a personal credit card (all travel expenses are reimbursed), and be available to travel* away from home for several periods at a time. In addition, this position requires non-traditional work hours, including evenings and select weekends.
What you bring to the role:
Education
- A minimum of a 4-year undergraduate degree (preferably from the University of Guelph-Humber) in a related field.
Experience
- Minimum one-year related experience in the post-secondary environment (Student Recruitment, admissions, registrarial/student services, public relations, or marketing).
Skills
- Outstanding public presentation and interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of all aspects of diversity in secondary school environment
- Superior digital knowledge and online presence
- Demonstrates energy, and enthusiasm for meeting new people and travelling
