Automation Service Canada supports customers with ABB automation solutions, operating in a wide range of industrial and utilities markets, across Canada. Our customers operate mission critical 24x7 processes which rely on ABB support from installation and initial start-up, through to life-cycle services to maximize the availability of the solutions provided by ABB and optimize their operations. You will execute Digital Advanced Services work with Automation Service Canada, specializing on Digital automation solutions provided by ABB. Located in Burlington, reporting to the local Service Manager, you will act as a Digital Service Engineer providing on-site and remote services to customers. You will work with other ABB field service personnel and with an extended network of professionals within Canada, North America and globally.

Your responsibilities

  • This role will be a key point of contact for all technical requirements for Digital Solution offerings, which include digital infrastructure, cyber security, alarm management and asset management.
  • Lead and/or participate in the application, testing, deployment, installation, and commissioning of new digital solutions.
  • Design, implement and execute digital maintenance programs to maximize the availability and operational effectiveness of customer digital solutions.
  • Consult with and advise customers on the best Digital Service solutions in accordance with standard processes, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Digital business champions, sales, proposals, projects group and field service teams to drive Advanced Service Solutions.
  • Troubleshoot software and server/network equipment, provide recommendations, and implement solutions to eliminate root causes.
  • Prepare and present reports to customers for new digital solution assessments, audits, and other services.
  • Deliver occasional training and technology demonstrations to our customers on ABB Digital Solutions.
  • Provide ABB leadership with recommendations for product, quality and customer service improvements.
  • Regular travel within Canada is required to provide on-site services. This may include occasional travel to the USA and internationally for both customer on-site services as well as training.

Your background

  • Computer Science or Engineering degree in Electrical, Software or Automation field from an accredited University.
  • ISA 99/62443 or TUV Cybersecurity fundamentals certification would be an advantage.
  • More than 5 years’ experience with industrial automation, software, and control systems. Knowledge and field experience with ABB control systems (800xA, SymphonyPlus) is a definite asset.
  • Knowledgeable on Alarm Management and Rationalization.
  • Strong IT skillset, knowledge and experience with Microsoft operating systems and domains, virtualization, cyber security and networking, firewall, and other security related hardware setup & troubleshooting.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and high technical aptitude and strong interest to learn new technologies.
  • Strong customer focus and the ability to relate well to customer needs, strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work in a multi-disciplined service environment, often in high pressure situations.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills. Ability to write technical reports and speak confidently with customers.
