Responsibilities
This position reports to the Executive Director, Acute Health Services, EZ and is responsible for co-leading the operational planning, standards and monitoring of emergency services across the Eastern Zone of Nova Scotia Health (NSH).
Working in a co-leadership and collaborative model with physicians and operational leaders, this position enables and supports the ongoing delivery of fully integrated emergency services across the zone; contributes to the development of strategic plan and operational plans that support excellence in care delivery, improves health outcomes and helps to achieve the standards of care established by the Emergency Program of Care.
The Director ensures continuous improvement to advance a vision of academic excellence within the provision of care and is responsible for the development, maintenance and monitoring of quality management and safety programs, and compliance with relevant standards and accreditation requirements.
The Director facilitates and champions a learning and research environment that aligns with the current and proposed future state of the Emergency Program of Care and Nova Scotia Health.
Qualifications
-Master’s Degree in a health related discipline, health administration, business administration or related subject an asset.
-Equivalent experience and/or alternative education may be considered
-Eligible for registration with relevant health or professional discipline/college or association
-The following would be considered an asset:
-Experience working in emergency services and the health system
-Certified Health Executive designation
-7-10 years of relevant leadership experience with progressive accountabilities for financial, strategic and people management to deliver high quality services within a tertiary, quaternary and academic health centre.
-Excellent leadership, relationship building, organizational and decision skills in support of patient, family and client centred services.
-Expert knowledge to critically analyze evidence-based practices to inform strategy development and organizational planning.
-Demonstrated skill in strategic planning and systems thinking.
-Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders.
-Expertise in financial planning.
-Evidence-based collaborative problem solving of complex multifaceted issues.
-Critical thinking and analytical problem solving.
-Understands the principles of project management and demonstrated ability to create and lead complex work teams.
-Expertise in quality improvement methodologies; monitor quality and performance indicators

Hours of Work
-Monday through Friday, based on 37.5 hours per week
Compensation and Benefits
$55.012 - $73.10 hourly
