Viterra is looking for applicants for a Facility Operations Manager Trainee opportunity. The successful candidate will be responsible for learning the efficient and profitable management of a concrete grain handling facility. This trainee program includes direct work experience, classroom and on-line training, as well as a variety of hands-on experiential opportunities in the areas of grain merchandising, logistics, human resources, sales and marketing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Facility Operations Manager in receiving, grading, cleaning, drying, blending, storing and shipping of products.
- Works closely with Facility Operations Manager and Manager Grain Operations to develop a throughout understanding of end user requirements.
- Assist the Facility Operations Manager with the effective planning and execution of all facility maintenance activities.
- Monitor profit and loss figures relating to Facility Operations and recommend corrective action as required.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate staff and work cooperatively with others.
- Must possess sound judgment, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Must have basic computer competence.
Education and Qualifications:
- Minimum Level 2 Grain Grading Certification.
- Minimum of two to three (2-3) years of related experience, including receiving, grading, cleaning, drying, blending and storing.
- Post secondary degree in Agriculture or Business Administration.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
The Facility Operations Manager Trainee role is a temporary training opportunity intended to prepare the successful candidate for a future Facility Operations Manager role with Viterra. The length of the training program will vary based upon individual; however, is typically 18 months in duration. Once the Facility Operations Manager Trainee has successfully completed the training program, the Trainee will be required to apply for Facility Operations Manager vacancies throughout Viterra’s Country Operations group.
