Job Purpose and Impact

The Food Safety Quality and Regulatory Technician (12 month term), will be accountable for Food Safety and quality inspection process within a specified range. In this role, you will conduct tests and inspections following internal and external procedures in environment health and safety and Food Safety.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct routine inspections following the compliance program.
  • Identify and analyze deviations to avoid environmental impact and potential risk to the businesses, report the serious one to higher level staff for guidance.
  • Preparing the food samples to be sent out to the third-party analytical laboratory for further testing. 
  • Understanding the CFIA standards to ensure that Food Safety and quality is maintained in plant.
  • Providing feedbacks to the Food Safety and operation team and involvement in implementing of corrective action.
  • Attend audits, prepare required documents and ensure all documentation is completed, current and verified to support production management decisions.
  • Handle basic clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma, secondary education level or equivalent
  • Experience working in food-processing manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, outlook)
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Food Sciences, Microbiology)
  • In-depth knowledge of sanitation and manufacturing practices in the assessment of plant hygiene program.
  • Experience in Food safety and Regulatory, and strong understanding of Sanitation, SOPs, Pre-requisite Programs, HACCP, CCP’s and GMP’s, and third-party requirements
