Job Purpose and Impact

The Food Safety Quality and Regulatory Technician-15 month term, will provide quality assurance and Food Safety technical support through testing and auditing process documentation and data collection and analysis. In this role, you will collaborate to identify quality assurance issues and analyze data to uncover risks and support knowledge transfer.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct inspections of finished products or raw materials to identify trends in defects or errors and support more complex trials and experiments under intermediate supervision.
  • Provide training, coaching and mentoring to new team members.
  • Conduct documentation review of hazard analysis, Food Safety and quality documents.
  • Assists in audits and shelf life projects through testing, preparing reports and final summaries.
  • Manage customer complaints and ensure appropriate actions and preventative measures are in place to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Handle moderately complex clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under general supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma, secondary education level or equivalent, preferably in Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, Chemistry or a related science discipline.
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, GMP, HACCP, BRC)
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and spreadsheets, and able to learn different software.  
  • Proven working experience in Food safety. 

Position Information

  •  Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
  • This position requires to be comfortable working with red meat.
  • This position requires to be comfortable working in a cold environment.
  • This position requires to be on the production floor 50-70% of time.
