Position:General Maintenance Assistant (6-month seasonal position)
Salary Range: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
Job Overview: Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Manager, the General Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for the ongoing care and maintenance of Muskoka Lakes Golf & Country Club buildings and facilities.
This role will include, but not be limited to:
· Perform routine maintenance tasks such as painting, repairing fixtures, and replacing light bulbs to maintain the aesthetic appeal and functionality of club facilities.
· Assist in preparing for the opening of the Club in the Spring and closing of the Club in the fall
· Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify any issues or potential hazards, reporting findings to the Maintenance Manager promptly
· Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance-related concerns and coordinate efforts for special projects or events
· Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times, including proper handling of tools and equipment, to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others
· Other duties as assigned
This is a 6-month seasonal position starting from May 1st to October 31st, 2024. The successful candidate will be required to be available and willing to work days, evenings, early mornings, weekends, and all public and civic holidays.
Summary: Muskoka Lakes Golf & Country Club is looking for an individual with a basic knowledge and understanding of General Maintenance. They should have experience with a variety of small hand tools, power tools, staining and painting procedures, etc. They should be able to anticipate and recognize potential problems that may arise. They must have an understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and work in a safe manner at all times in respect to themselves, fellow employees, Members, and guests of the Club. The successful applicant will have a cordial and positive demeanour, possess the willingness to assist other departments as needed and assigned, and to be self-motivated. The preferred applicant will have their own transportation. They should be able to take instruction and be able to arrange their workload to accomplish assigned tasks safely and a timely manner. They should be comfortable working at heights necessary to perform tasks such as cleaning, painting, and similar tasks.
Qualifications, Skills & Education:
· Trades program or equivalent is preferred
· Proper PPE, including High Ankle ESA Safety Boots will be mandatory at all times
· Previous experience in General Maintenance, landscaping, or a related field preferred
· Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Willing to work in all weather conditions
· Be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely
- Valid G Driver’s License (or equivalent) with a clean Drivers abstract (an asset)
- Working at Heights Certificate and Chain Saw Training (considered an asset)
- First Aid & CPR and/or AED Training (an asset)
- Pleasure Craft Operator Card (an asset)
